Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the digitalisation project to automate the Research Department’s products, such as visualisations and statistical analyses, into a centralised environment conducive to big data analysis
• Implement the data-update process, database management, data analyses and visualisation into automated procedures
• Build dissemination tools to effectively distribute the automated products within the HKMA
• Collaborate with economists, statisticians, technologists in the Research Department to derive long-term solutions in achieving more effective and efficient automated procedures
• Assist in economic and financial research using machine learning / big data techniques

Requirements

• University degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, data science, business analytics, engineering, fintech or related disciplines
• Prior work experience an advantage; recent university graduates with good academic results are also welcome to apply
• Experience in or knowledge of ETL development, data warehouse, business intelligence, and/or data visualisation, preferably gained in a sizeable organisation
• Proficiency in SQL and Python/R
• Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g. Kettle, Informatica), relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle), and/or data visualisation solutions (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) a definite advantage
• Knowledge of finance and economics a definite advantage
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; Putonghua an advantage
• Resourceful in identifying ways to mitigate issues and risks associated with projects
• A good team player, able to work with others to achieve the objectives
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
