Application Development Engineer

Position Summary:

The position is focused on products and applications in the Industrial Silanes market. The Application Development Engineer-Industrial Silanes provides the technical expertise required to develop new businesses for existing and new Industrial Silanes products. The ADE must understand the needs of customers, establish long-term relationships and deliver technical solutions. The ADE Industrial Silanes will be based in our China Headquater to support the APAC industrial silane market growth from technology perspective through customer service.

Job Description:

• Regional: the focus will be APAC with emphasis on industrial Silanes market.
• Support our customers in utilizing the MPM silanes product line in glass-fiber and composites applications and demonstrate clearly the value of our products to the customer.
• Maintain regular contacts with Industrial Silanes customers, understand day-to-day needs and suggest best use of Silane products, engage with customers on technical inquiries and troubleshooting.
• Support Marketing in mapping the current product offerings against local market needs.
• Provide feedback and input into Marketing and R&D for new or uncovered needs and market trends as well as future product developments.
• Support Marketing through benchmark analysis of product performance in specific applications.
• Suggest modifications to existing product portfolio on customer input and market analysis.
• Execute or contribute to laboratory work required to identify and demonstrate product solution to customer needs; planning and execution of laboratory projects, from translation of customer needs as well as lab formulation work supporting NPI’s.
• Develop new silicone materials (NPI) to fulfill the changing market needs, as well as supporting marketing in new product launches.
• Follow up on key customer application inquiry and quality issues, conduct the in-house trial to help customer formulation optimization.
• Provide or create documentation support such as technical data sheets and technical guidelines and assist Marketing and R&D in creating technical presentations and seminars featuring the benefit of Momentive Silanes in specific applications.
• Maintain technical data info to support business projects and support NPI developments (e.g. datasheet development, specifications).
• Support marketing to initiate market promotion activities including technical seminars, tradeshows, and other daily work.
• Deliver regular technical training on product benefit to sales and distributors.
• Ensure high safety standards are applied in all laboratory activities and comply to local EHS regulations and practices.

Additional Details:

• University degree (MSc.) in chemistry or chemical engineering 5-10 years chemical engineering experience including specific experience in technical service and customer support
• Ideally solid experience for glass-fiber in composite, glass-fiber process engineering as well as composite additives field
• Highly skilled and experienced to support customer application development in order to demonstrate Momentive silanes and siloxane value proposition
• Ability to work in laboratory environment to carry out selected projects and issue technical reports
• Ability for effective team work and strong team player Strong skills in customer relationships, ability to build sustainable business relationships
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a cross-functional team environment with strong customer focus
• Self-motivated individual with high level of creativity and technical curiosity
• Good communication, presentation and influencing skills
• Good knowledge of Office software especially very familiar with Excel and PowerPoint
• Availability to travel Fluent English language, knowledge of further local languages is an advantage
