Job Description

Using Atomic Force Microscopes from Asylum Research, our customers can see how cancer cells respond to new treatments, extend the lifetime and efficiency of renewable energy systems and lithium-ion batteries, and develop the novel materials required for quantum computing.

Applications Scientist

Asylum Research, the technology leader in Atomic Force and Scanning Probe Microscopy (AFM / SPM) is seeking experienced Applications Scientists to join our APAC Team:

  • China Apps: Based out of our office in Beijing or Shanghai, this position requires fluency in Mandarin, the ability to communicate reasonably well in English, and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
With a solid academic background in the physical or biological sciences, and a minimum of 5 years practical and theoretical AFM experience, you will be joining a team of professionals that is dynamic, innovative, and at the forefront of the nanotechnology instrumentation field.

The Role
  • Perform AFM/SPM product demonstrations for prospective customers
  • Generate sample data and reports for sales support and product presentations
  • AFM/SPM general use and applications training both in-house and at customer site
  • Provide technical support for AFM/SPM products via phone, internet, or onsite visit
  • Install AFM/SPM instruments and accessories at customer sites
  • Give technical presentations at workshops, seminars, scientific conferences, and customer meetings
  • Test new products and generate reports for development and manufacturing teams
  • Cooperate closely with sales staff to achieve company targets
The Candidate

Successful candidates will have:
  • An advanced degree in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, material science, or biology.
  • Strong background in Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
  • Experience in polymer science, material science, molecular biology or similar field.
  • Excellent communication skills in the language specified above.
