Job Description

As the Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) Business Unit within Intel, we will continue drive the future of field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. PSG continues to deliver industry-leading custom logic solutions to customers, and to take advantage of the many opportunities that we see in the future for FPGA's, the High-Level Design (HLD) Strategy team is seeking an Applications of oneAPI for FPGAs Researcher to join our team.

The High-Level Design (HLD) Strategy team is responsible for multiple elements of our high-level design product portfolio. In this role, you will join the strategic pathfinding arm of the organization. This team researches and develops prototypes to identify the next big technological advance in our products, or to identify the next big market for our HLD products.

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Researches, designs, develops, and optimizes software tools that enable the use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).

  • Develops and optimizes compilers, flows, assemblers, models, tools, runtimes, and/or firmware's that are closely coupled to FPGA silicon, IP, and boards, while leveraging strong knowledge of FPGA hardware, logic design, board design, semiconductor devices, and chip layout.

  • Designs, develops, and optimizes software abstractions and frameworks for acceleration with the FPGA for domains such as deep learning, DSP algorithms, or data analytics.

  • Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education:

PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 + years of experience in independent research in the domain of FPGAs, application acceleration, computational storage and/or near-memory computing.

  • 4+ years of experience writing academic publications.

  • 1+ years of experience using FPGA high-level design tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Intel’s oneAPI compiler for the FPGA target.

  • Experience developing applications for other accelerators (GPU, CPU, domain-specific accelerators).

  • Understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of FPGAs and where they demonstrate value over alternative architectures.
