We are hiring Scientists/Engineers with outstanding machine learning (ML) and speech recognition (SR) technology development skills to advance Microsoft's core speech technology.
As one of Microsoft’s most exciting AI and perception initiatives that make everyone more effective, SR is driving the accuracy and robustness of natural user interfaces with the science and technology that power our cloud services and clients/devices.
The Speech and Language Group develops SR platforms and experience for enterprise and consumer products running both on network servers and on client devices. Our voice platforms power Microsoft Cognitive APIs, conversational transcription and summarization, Cortana digital assistant experience on desktop/laptop, smart speaker, home and mobile devices, Skype speech to speech translation, and HoloLens and Xbox voice search and command/control. We develop and deliver robust, natural and scalable SR across a rich set of scenarios and languages.
Our group brings together talents in the areas of ML, statistical modeling, and pattern recognition. We are looking for technical area owners with a deep machine learning or speech and signal processing R&D background characterized by concrete contributions that have advanced the state of the art of either commercial or academic machine learning or SR systems. You will find great R&D opportunities on real data sets provided by one of the world’s largest speech/online data feedback loop.
Responsibilities
Job responsibility includes defining project requirements, creating plans, and executing projects across product releases in the areas of SR core technology, algorithm and engineering. You must have a track record of innovation and thought leadership. You are up to the technical & competitive challenges of a fast-moving technology area.
Essential attributes and competencies include: Excellence in scientific thinking and execution, ability to drive efficient experiment definition and investigations, solid skill in developing state-of-the-art ML or SR algorithms, broad scope in solving ML or SR related engineering problems, and passion for new user-interface paradigms incorporating speech technologies.
Qualifications
- PhD (or candidate) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with focus in one or more of ML, signal processing, statistical modeling, search and optimization, or equivalent experience
- Speech Recognition or Machine Learning R&D in an academic or commercial setting, and software development skills and aptitude for quality and reusable software
- Excellent knowledge in machine learning/deep learning/, and experience with Python or C#/C++, familiar with at least one of the public deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, Caffe, TensorFlow or CNTK
- large scale and distributed computing, and programming with scripting languages
