We are recruiting school and college leavers to join our Engineering Fitter apprenticeship scheme at our Traction Drives site in Leeds, who want to make a difference and develop their skills in Engineering and Service of railway components such as gearboxes and motors.(in 2022/23 the Leeds facility will move over to the new purpose-built site in Goole). The challenge Part of being an traction drives apprentice at Siemens means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 3-year apprenticeship where you will be put onto the Engineering Fitter standard and earn your qualifications in Engineering Operations. Here is how the programme works: Year 1: You will spend your first year in college studying towards your Foundation and Knowledge qualifications, and we will begin integrating you into the Siemens community through work placements during academic breaks. Year 2: College will be on a 1 day a week basis at this point. You’ll spend the rest of your time as part of a busy production team preparing trains for service, completing routine maintenance, and carrying-out fault finding. You will also begin your workplace-based Competence qualification. Year 3: You’ll spend your third and final year continuing to develop and demonstrating technical, occupational, and professional competence, as you prepare for a role as a Mechanical Fitter. You will prepare your portfolio for End-Point Assessment. The candidate We are looking for forward-thinking, inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following characteristics: You should have good communication skills, both written and verbal You think logically, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving You enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions You can work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change Identify with our values of Zero Harm, Innovative, Excellent and Responsible. We can teach you the knowledge on your apprenticeship however its also means a lot to us for you to align to our culture and behaviours. You should be IT literate, able to use Microsoft Office Minimum Educational Requirements: You will have achieved or be on track to achieve at least 5 GCSE's grade 4 or above including maths and english language or 3 A Levels (or BTEC equivalent) at grade C or above.
