You will be working in the Regional Services & Solutions business within Siemens Smart Infrastructure – responsible for design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of advanced electronic security, fire safety and energy management solutions that maintain business continuity, manage risk and achieve carbon reduction targets. We are recruiting keen, ambitious and dynamic candidates to join our field service team – you will be trained to become a multi skilled service engineer looking after fire and security systems on customer sites within the Branch. There will also be some travel to other areas of the UK. The Challenge: Part of being an apprentice at Siemens means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 3 year Advanced Apprenticeship where you will be put onto the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The academic training will be provided by our training partner Banham Academy in London who will also be the apprenticeship provider – don’t worry, this will all be sorted out for you. Your learning will be supported throughout your programme by Siemens mentors and your Branch colleagues. Here is how the programme works: Years 1 - 3: Following your induction you will immediately begin integrating into the Siemens community. You will be working in your allocated Branch of the Regional Services & Solutions Europe (the HQ is based at our Farnborough site) Banham Academy will provide you with the academic knowledge, qualifications and confidence you need to build a really successful career. This training will be on a block release basis – this means you will be at College for a block of 1 week and then you will return to the Branch for a number of practical weeks with the engineers before your next College block You will also undertake your apprenticeship End Point Assessment in your final year The position will involve dedicated training on your journey to becoming a multi skilled customer service engineer in the fire and security industry with excellent electrical diagnostic knowledge The successful candidate will join our field based engineering team and will be ultimately responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of our fire and security systems. You will provide vital technical service support to our customers working very closely with the office technical escalation staff, sales and support teams You will be expected to travel and will work at a variety of sites throughout the UK within your Branch] Here is what you can make a difference in: Undertake site installation and commissioning works Perform factory acceptance test, site integration and site acceptance tests Shadow experienced field engineers at customer sites Perform dynamic site risk assessment in line with the safety rules Travel to sites across the country depending on the assigned projects and site location Carry out remote fault rectification to address minor faults Rotate in other parts of the business to learn and support other functions such as commissioning or design Identification and implementation of business improvements The Candidate: We are looking for forward-thinking, inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following characteristics: You have an analytical mindset – willingness to learn and grow and embrace future technology and use it to develop your own future skills You have good organisational skills You will possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to enable you to work within a team focused environment You must be keen to learn and have an inquiring mind and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for your work and our business Excellent attention to detail – the role requires the diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical and electrical problems Good level of computer literacy is desirable A self disciplined approach to your studies will be required as well as to your timekeeping and attendance in the workplace The role of Service Engineer requires a balance of technical and personal skills and therefore you need to have a ‘can do attitude’.
