The Office of the CTO in APAC is looking for an Area Solution Architect (ASA) that can help lead complex, multi-domain solutions for our customers and help with their digital disruption and transformations. The ASA team is responsible for leading and architecting innovative and complex solutions as well as building speculative solutions using emerging technologies and cloud services.
This Area Solution Architect role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer business problems to end-to-end technology solutions. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to engage in senior level technology decision maker discussions related to agility, business value, and end to end information technology security is a requirement.
The Area Solution Architect applies advanced analysis skills and experience in principals of architecture to define appropriate customer solutions. To be credible he or she must have current and deep experience with implementation of large on-premise software and cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
As an Area Solution Architect, you will:
- Assist customers in defining, designing, architecting, planning, testing and deploying cloud-based solutions
- Support Services field teams in the deployment of cloud based solutions, helping to increase consumption of the platform by providing guidance, supporting development of the customers’ cloud adoption model, and providing appropriate recommendations to overcome blockers.
- Establish deep relationships with key customer BDM and ITDMs, who drive technology adoption within their company.
- Identify, validate and grow opportunities to accelerate Services’ Sellers in partnership with the Account and Specialist sales teams, by driving solution architecture and technical discovery workshops
- Provide experience selling consulting engagements which includes estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk.
- Ability to move between high level architectural review/design and the “roll up the sleeves” level of actually doing all phases of an application delivery project.
- Provide deep technical expertise and support in one out of the following four areas of specialization: Datacenter Transformation, Custom Applications, Data and Artificial Intelligence, Security, Compliance and Privacy.
- Keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights.
- The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both time and expectation management.
Qualifications

- Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends
- Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior executives and growing cloud consumption share in strategic accounts
- Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through
- Problem-solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- 10+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects
- 5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)
- Technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Software design or development, Application Design, Systems Operations / Management, Database architecture, Virtualization, IP Networking, Storage, IT Security, Linux
- Working knowledge with AGILE development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
- Oversight experience on major transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation support teams
- Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences
- Prior work experience in a Consulting/Architecture position within a software and/or services company such as SalesForce, Amazon, VMware, Google, IBM, Avanade, T-Systems, Wipro, CSC, HP, Infosys, ServiceNow, Dell, TCS, Rackspace, Softlayer
Education:
- Technical BS degree, Computer Science or Math background highly desired
- MBA optional
