In this role, you have the opportunity to

Team-up with a global team of over 50 system engineering experts to support all Philips businesses Globally with End-to-end (E2E) product Quality and Reliability. You get the opportunity to raise the bar for development and operational quality and realize the company’s quality strategy and targets.

You are responsible for

You will take ownership of requirements engineering, design optimization, and test activities in a strategic and global platform program for battery-powered systems through application of a wide range of system engineering capabilities and tooling. Responsibilities involve e.g. the creation of battery platform requirements, a battery system testing platform and managing these in the Philips IT tooling environment.

As you grow your experience in the technology, the innovations processes, and tooling suite, you will further develop into an integrating System Quality engineering role in which you will be involved in designing in, proving and improving quality, reliability and regulatory (e.g. safety, environmental, EMC) aspects in healthcare systems development projects. These projects can cover every phase of the product life cycle, e.g. advanced development, product development, launch and/or sustaining. In that role, you will define and manage the integral quality and reliability strategy in a professional way and take responsibility for execution and delivery of results. You will maintain and develop knowledge and expertise resulting in service propositions that are attractive to your customers.

  • Apply and Facilitate Systems Engineering best practices in development projects;

  • Work with project leaders, system architects and lead engineers to manage system engineering information from elicitation of requirements to verification, mastering the Philips process and tooling suite;

  • Participate in design risk management activities, e.g. facilitate e.g. user, design or process FMEA, fault tree analysis,..;

  • Set up and manage design, parameter and/or process optimization, verification and validation test activities of battery systems;

  • Use established Business Excellence methodologies such as DfSS, DMAIC, PDCA, Kaizen events, SPC, 8D,..;

  • Identify improvement opportunities in Philips processes and data models and develop actionable proposals and plans to address these;

  • Manage your activities and services according to good project management practices.

You are part of

The Product Quality & Reliability team is part of Reliability Solutions service of Philips Innovation Services and is a central expert group of architects and system engineers with a passion for Reliability and Quality engineering. They have direct access to a broad network of product reliability test- and material analysis facilities and experts. They participate in a variety of global projects or initiatives, such as the battery platform program, which aims at the creation of reference and product architectures for battery elements in healthcare systems, and the development, release and integration thereof.

All are DfSS Green belt or Black Belt, active in designing in or improving reliability of complex, innovative products and processes for our customers from both internal Philips businesses as well as external companies, located all over the world.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • PhD or Masters (MSc) degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering

  • At least 3 years of experience in a business R&D environment;

  • A high degree of analytical and conceptual thinking, physical insight and the ability to structure information

  • A proven track record and deep interest in the application of systems engineering practices

  • In depth knowledge of battery chemistry, battery management, battery chemistry has a strong preference.

  • A flexible and a hands-on mentality to deliver sustainable results and creative solutions fast;

  • Affinity with manufacturing quality control and improvement programs has a preference;

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, nice to have;

  • Excellent reporting and documentation skills;

  • Experience with requirements, risk and test management tools (e.g. DOORS, Polarion, JAMA, PTC Integrity) is a pro

  • Good project management skills (sense of urgency).
