Our position

Reporting to the National Sales Director, Diabetes, the Area Business Manager (ABM) is the sales leader for the Diabetes franchise and is responsible for achieving regional/territory sales objectives, managing and coaching the Diabetes & Customer sales representatives in a positive and motivating environment, and working collaboratively with the Diabetes marketing team and cross-functional partners.

The Ontario East territory includes Peterborough, Kingston, Durham, Ottawa and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of regional/territory business plans for each promoted product that clearly identifies opportunities and threats to local the business and reflects a clear understanding of competitive activity and personnel as well as local environmental issues.

  • Utilizing the monthly performance reports to assess business progress versus expectations, to identify new opportunities, to course correct if needed, and to maximize the success of the Diabetes business.

  • Creates a positive business environment that encourages behaviours like innovation, knowledge sharing and risk taking.

  • Acts as a leader within the Diabetes team, challenging and inspiring the sales representatives, ABM colleagues and the Diabetes x-functional team.

  • Creates a great team culture where the team thrives and excels; recruitment, performance management, coaching, development, and compensation administration.

  • Oversees the team’s budgets, planning of team meetings, and delivering on administration tasks in a compliant and timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • 8-12 years of commercial pharmaceutical experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA an asset

  • Proven track record in sales, sales training, marketing or sales management with sales management being an asset

  • Strong understanding of a manager’s roles and responsibilities and their impact on sales rep capabilities across a broad spectrum including therapeutic knowledge, territory management, selling skills, product promotion, customer advocacy, and the patient journey

  • Must be a self-starter and team player with superior people and motivational skills

  • Ability to effectively coach and develop others

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to present and communicate effectively amongst diverse groups as well as one-on-one sessions

  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and project management to set and manage multiple priorities, resources, goals, and initiatives at one time

  • Strong decision-making, problem solving, and judgment skills

  • A valid Driver's license is required.  (The successful candidate must be able to provide a valid driver abstract at the time of acceptance.)
