Eaton’s Electrical sector is seeking an Area Sales Manager to be based out of our Calgary, Alberta facility. Position Overview: The Area Sales Manager directs all sales activities in their territory to achieve performance goals in accordance with marketing and sales plans. This position provides coaching, direction and training for sales professionals in their respective territories; helping them succeed in managing and developing their customer base; leveraging internal and external sales resources; driving products through channel in order to achieve market share gains; supporting price attainment goals; and implementing strategic initiatives throughout the territory. This role is expected to build close relationships with customers and distributors to enhance sales volume and exceed customer expectations. It is essential to understand major competitors’ tactics, organization, distribution strategy and pricing while keeping management informed of trends and changes. This position is responsible to ensure strategic and territory operation plans, major product launches and key programs are properly planned, executed and managed. In this function you will: Establish and build strong relationships with customers and distributors to enhance sales volume and customer service. Plan, direct and drive sales resources to ensure adequate coverage is applied to satisfy customer requirements. Awareness of competitors’ products, tactics, strategy, pricing, and their competitive position in the territory. Create strategic plans to implement product line initiatives and product launches. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical products and their applications within the territory. Support and continuously improve channels to market. Recruit, hire, train and develop organizational capabilities of sales personnel. Understand and effectively communicate customer needs internally. Manage the opportunity pipeline and provide monthly product line forecasts. Identify prime opportunities, define target projects and coordinate the resources necessary to deliver winning solutions. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Diploma/degree from an accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of electrical industry sales experience. Possess a valid driver’s license. Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Diploma/degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing. Previous experience managing a sales team. Experience in the development of incremental business opportunities in the electrical market. Position Criteria: Experience managing people and market channels. Negotiation expertise, ability to cope with ambiguity and overcome challenges. Superior knowledge of sales techniques, customer engagement and employee development. Skilled in growing sales and market share through channel partnerships. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Technical proficiency in deploying strategies to deliver customer focused solutions. Analytical aptitude, ability to think critically with proven problem-solving skills. Demonstrated competency in leading teams to success. Customer orientation, ability to understand, communicate and meet customer needs. Desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
