Job Title: Art & Visual Arts Teacher

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified Art & Visual Arts Teacher to deliver engaging and comprehensive art education across primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore diverse artistic mediums, develop technical skills, and cultivate an appreciation for global and local artistic traditions. This role requires adaptability to teach within different school streams while maintaining high standards of artistic inquiry and expression.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in Art and Visual Arts aligned with the school's international curriculum (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP Art, or a standards-based international framework).
Teach a wide range of techniques, concepts, and media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, and mixed media, tailored to various age groups and proficiency levels.
Foster a creative, inclusive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere where every student feels encouraged to experiment, take risks, and express their individual artistic voice.
Integrate art history, theory, and critical analysis into the curriculum, exposing students to diverse artists, cultures, and contemporary practices.
Develop students' abilities to conceptualize, plan, execute, and critically reflect on their own artwork through portfolios, sketchbooks, and project-based assessments.
Manage the art studio environment effectively, including inventory of materials, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe, organized, and inspiring workspace.
Organize and display student work within the school community, and contribute to school-wide artistic events, exhibitions, and extracurricular art clubs/activities.
Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, interests, and language proficiencies of students in a bilingual/multilingual setting.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the Arts department and across other subject areas to promote interdisciplinary learning.
Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, projects, and achievements.
Participate actively in professional development, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
A recognized teaching qualification/certification (e.g., PGCE, teaching license, QTS).
Minimum of 2-3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in Art/Visual Arts, preferably within an international K-12 school setting.
Strong proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage for collaboration and communication in the bilingual context.
A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating personal artistic skill and professional teaching practice (e.g., student work samples, lesson/project examples).
Deep knowledge of various artistic techniques, processes, and digital art tools.
Familiarity with one or more international art curricula and assessment practices.
Excellent communication, intercultural competence, and collaboration skills.
