Asia-Pac Internal Audit Services Manager (Commercial)
AstraZenecaChina - shanghaiUpdate time: May 1,2021
Job Description

At AstraZeneca every one of our employees  makes a difference to patient lives everyday.

Our science lives beyond our labs – our global perspective means we use talent and expertise from all over the world to make our medicines a success.

You’ve worked in a manager-level audit role, probably in a Big Four accounting firm or another large global organisation. You have pharma sector experience. And your compliance or forensic audit experience and global outlook mean you could make an exceptional Internal Audit Manager (Commercial) with AstraZeneca, a world-leading pharmaceutical company, in Shanghai.

Internal Audit Service (IAS) provides independent assurance that we’re achieving our objectives effectively and in the right way.  Our remit is to provide assurance over compliance, operational and strategic risks and ensure they are being managed effectively.

Reporting to the Head of Audit (Commercial), you’ll have real scope to make an impact as our aim is to be a top-performing IAS function.

Main duties and responsibilities

You’ll work closely with the Audit Director Asia-Pac based in Shanghai, and external co-sourced partners on a complex portfolio of China and broader Asia-Pac commercial compliance audits, working collaboratively throughout the audits to highlight issues and propose solutions. You’ll be required to quickly develop relationships with in-country management teams and evaluate a range of judgemental issues around risks and controls.

We’ll also look to you to innovate and drive continuous improvement in our auditing processes, including use of data analytics. Another key focus will be to identify insights and themes to share with the business on the challenges and risks that come from commercialising our portfolio. We’ll expect you to have an appetite to learn and develop, given the range of audit projects you’ll be involved with.

Essential requirements

  • Previous experience of auditing regulatory compliance frameworks within the pharma sector in China, including evaluating compliance with anti-bribery risks, policies and controls
  • Ability to undertake regular travel internationally with a focus on Asia-Pac (up to 20% of working days) to work on a range of commercial audits
  • Ability to manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams across different locations within Asia-Pac, including working effectively with external co-sourced provider teams
  • High level of personal integrity, tenacity and independence
  • A flexible communication style, able to adjust your approach and influence others, including in-country senior management teams
  • Ability to analyse complex issues from a range of perspectives, including use of data analytics, and form considered judgements around the actions to be taken
  • Strong project management skills on individual assignments, and broader programmes
  • A relevant degree or postgraduate professional qualification (e.g. CI CPA)
  • Fluent in Mandarin. Very strong business English, including both written and verbal communication. Fluency in another relevant language would be desirable.
