Job Description

Office: Capital Planning Department, Strategy & Planning Division, HA Head Office

Pay
HK$27,564 to HK$50,343 per month (including Monthly Allowance)

Job
The appointee will assist the Capital Planning Department in the project management of major capital works projects and provide technical advisory support. The appointee will be responsible for the following main duties:

  1. Assist the Building Services Inspector / Clerk of Works on all aspects of supervision of building services work / building works on site.
  2. Assist in the administration and control of Works Supervisory grade staff.
  3. Monitor labour resources, progress, materials and equipment used on site.
  4. Upkeep site records including site record books and submission of all monthly returns.
  5. Liaise and co-ordinate with other contractors, utility companies, client and government departments on site matters.
  6. Solve minor disputes/conflicts between various contractors, utility companies, client and government departments on site.
  7. Ensure the correct materials and equipment are delivered to site by contractors and that only those approved materials and equipment are installed.
  8. Assist in the checking of site measurements of building services works / building works and payments claimed by contractors.
  9. Assist in the site survey of existing building services works / building works during the construction stage, including submission of proposals for additional, alteration or repair works.
  10. Inspect and witness the testing and commissioning of building services works / building works.
  11. Monitor the progress of building services / building outstanding works and defects rectification works.
  12. Check site safety and environmental protection issue on site and report to his superior in case of any non-conformity occurred.
  13. Work according to duty roster, attend emergency call and perform typhoon duty.
  14. Perform any other duties as required to facilitate implementation of capital works projects of the department.

 

Requirements

  1. A Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Services Engineering or Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Building Studies from Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education; or equivalent.
  2. (a) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE OR 
    (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE, or equivalent.
  3. At least 3 years of relevant experience such as building services installation works and/or building projects after attaining the required academic qualification.
  4. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).

 

Preferred Attributes/Exposure

  1. Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet / Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.)
  2. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  3. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  4. Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation.
  5. Registered electrical worker, class B, as registered in the list of EMSD.
  6. Formal training in occupational safety and health.

 

Remarks

  1. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
  2. Selected candidates may be required to work in shifts and/or irregular hours in different offices and/or project sites, depending on services / operational needs.
  3. Appointment will be on contract terms for a period of 2 to 3 years. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
  4. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
