Job Description

Job Summary

A GCR Associate Corporate Counsel shall work independently to provide substantial support on routine legal work, assess legal risks of business contracts and projects, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and internal policies and processes. Legal services are generally provided to medium to large complex businesses. Duties include analysis and provision of legal advice focused on business-oriented solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts/documents that arise from the day to day.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing legal policies and business practices.
  • Research and advice on specific regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Review and keep updated on legislation in China that may affect business.
  • Identify, analyze and evaluate risks and work with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide timely, pro-active and practical legal advice to internal business clients.
  • Provide input into new policies and practices.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing legal policies and business practices.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing legal policies and business practices.
  • Provide legal trainings to internal teams and external partners as requested.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on programs assigned.
  • Act as business partner, work closely with business department.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Head of legal from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • PRC LLB and bar is required (preferred with a reputable China university), while overseas legal education background is a plus.
  • 5 - 7 years working experience from law firm or MNCs.
  • Solid knowledge and experience on cooperate and contract related laws and regulations.
  • Experience in software industry is a plus.
  • Self-driven with strong commercial awareness, team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Energetic, highly efficient and business savvy.
  • Able to work well as a team member and build rapport and trust with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Quick learner and good analytical skills
  • Demonstrated initiative with integrity and high intelligence level.
  • Good written and oral communication skill in English and Chinese.
