Job Description

Sofitel Brisbane Central is centrally located within the heart of Brisbane city. 416 elegantly appointed rooms and suites are complemented by the finest personal luxuries to make this one of Brisbane’s best accommodation experiences. The hotel features a variety of Food & Beverage outlets, two fitness centres, Day Spa and 15 fully flexible event spaces for up to 1100 delegates.

We have created the new position of Associate (i.e. Assistant) Director of Sales and Events to be the second in charge of our large Sales and Meeting & Events team, focusing on proactively stimulating new business while maintaining and managing an existing account profile. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this role is also responsible for managing a team of professionals and motivating them to achieve revenue targets and exceed client expectations. 

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the development and promotion of sales activities within the conference, association and sporting markets.
  • Develop strong relationships with decision makers and influencers within the top Sofitel Brisbane Central accounts.
  • Provide leadership to the Meetings & Events Sales team to develop a sales focused and performance culture among the team.
  • Maintain a customer focus, ensuring that service delivery is timely, effective and efficient and that it meets both the customers’ needs and corporate standards.
  • Host and conduct familiarisations and site inspections for prospective and existing business.
  • Achieve and/or exceed budget in forecasted revenues in accommodation and other revenue generation areas.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • A proven track record of sales performance.
  • Extensive experience within the business events / hotels sector.
  • Established relationships with Professional Conference Organisers, Associations, Corporate planners and Sporting clients.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in managing high yielding accounts and delivering great results.
  • Knowledge of Opera and Delphi system is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite essential.
  • Strong administration, time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to identify and address the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional and personable telephone manner.
