Assistant Financial Controller

This is an opportunity for those looking to step into a Financial Controller role in the near future. As the Assistant Financial Controller, you will report to the Financial Controller and assist with the coordination and management of the Finance, Payroll and Purchasing departments, their team members and operations.

The hotel features a number of exquisite and extravagant food & beverage outlets, two fitness centres, a Day Spa and fully flexible event spaces for up to 1100 delegates.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the Finance and Purchasing department
  • Use hotel systems to ensure compliance and policy integrity of accounting processes
  • Perform regular financial reporting and analysis
  • Support managers in the use and interpretation of hotel systems, procedures, financial results, budget and forecasts
  • Oversee and support the Payroll Officer with fortnightly payroll processes
  • Provide support and assistance to accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and night audit

Your experience and skills include:

  • Tertiary qualified with previous experience in a similar role in a large hotel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong technical skills and a high level of computer literacy
  • Proficiency with SUN systems and Opera
  • Proficiency with rostering, payroll and purchasing systems (Wage Easy, Time Target and Purchase Plus preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Knowledge of the Hospitality Award and Collective Agreements
  • A team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility of hours due to monthly deadlines.
