Job Description

General Description


The Global Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for global sourcing function for assigned business units. This person is to engage EARLY in a product’s concept phase, working with Engineering, Marketing and Program Management teams to align on a product’s Cost/Quality/Time-To-Market sweet spot. In addition, the Global Sourcing Specialist will be accountable for leading the supplier management process, committing to product costs over the life of the product, and ensuring that all legal protections are in place with our supply base. The Global Sourcing Specialist will also define and execute a cost reductions strategy that supports the Business Unit’s roadmap and profitability goals and maintain a strong working relationship with key suppliers.


Responsibilities


  • Work closely with BU & Suppliers on new product’s components & concepts.

  • Act as the “Ops Ambassador” that guides the team towards solid decisions based on solid data.

  • Conduct RFI’s to help determine if stated cost goals are reasonably achievable. If not, work with the team to determine if the specs/features/etc. can be adjusted to meet the stated cost goal.

  • Conduct RFQ’s to finalize product cost prior to stating development efforts. This is your commitment to the BU and will be used to approve the product for development and launch.

  • Based on the cross functional team’s consensus, award new business to Suppliers.

  • Throughout the development process, constantly monitor and manage costs to make sure we are staying aligned to the committed cost. This will include material costs, transformation costs, tooling, certification and NRE.

  • Negotiate forward looking cost reductions with Suppliers for upcoming quarters.

  • Ensure that the company is legally protected by executing Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Supplier Agreement and Statements of Work.

  • Create and execute a long-term sourcing strategy for the BU. Ensure alignment of sourcing plans with Product Management Roadmaps.

  • Continuously survey for new Suppliers that can grow with the company.

  • Lead Supplier Bus Reviews every 3-6 months.

  • Partner with cross functional teams on product life cycle management process & project approval process E2.


    Education and Qualification Requirements


  • Five years or above experience in Sourcing/Purchasing Management.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and excellent presentation skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin).
  • Excellent negotiation skills & vendor relationship management.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional team in a collaborative manner to achieve business goals.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain or relevant disciplines acquired from reputable University or Tertiary Institution. Advanced Degree is preferred. MBA is an advantage.
  • Proficiency working with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
