Job Description

Requirements 

a)          A good Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a Hong Kong university or a university in a common law jurisdiction;

b)         Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua (please refer to the Notes below);

c)          Solicitor or barrister admitted to practice in Hong Kong;

d)         A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience is preferable but newly admitted candidates with the right calibre will also be considered; and

e)          Positive, diligent and self-motivated with good judgment, strong analytical and inter-personal skills.

 

Notes:

English requirements:

(a)   Grade B or above in Use of English of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) OR

(b)   Grade B or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level OR

(c)    Level 5* or above in English Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) OR

(d)   An overall band of 7.5 or above with no subtest score below band 7 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period. And the IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period OR

(e)    Level 2 in the Use of English paper of the Common Recruitment Exam (CRE).

 

Chinese requirements:

(a)   Grade B or above in Chinese Language and Culture of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) OR

(b)   Grade B or above in Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE)OR

(c)    Level 5* or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) OR

(d)   Level 2 in the Use of Chinese paper of the Common Recruitment Exam (CRE).

 

Duties 

  • To handle legal proceedings and Administrative Appeals Board cases; 
  • To advise on all legal matters relating to the handling of enquiries, complaints, compliance checks, investigations, inspections and data matching requests and policy and research work; 
  • To prepare submissions to public consultations which may have concerns on personal data privacy; 
  • To undertake legal researches and provide legal support for projects undertaken by the PCPD; and 
  • To give talks and lectures, assist in the preparation of guidance materials, guidelines and codes of practice.

 

Remuneration Package 

The successful candidate will be rewarded with commensurate remuneration package with monthly salary ranging from 55,705 to 70,090. He or she will be appointed on contract terms. The terms of appointment and conditions of service to be offered are subject to the provisions prevailing at the time the offer of appointment. In addition to 5-day week, we provide 18 days annual leave, medical and dental benefits, and contribution to MPF.
