Assistant Librarian I/II (Learning Support)

The appointee will work in the Learning Support team of the Library. He/She is required to a) provide leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, coordination, promotion and evaluation of the library’s information literacy programs including orientations, workshops, all other reference and instruction services in both online and in-person formats for students and faculty; b) create and deliver digital learning objects, subject guides and other information literacy related web content through different online platforms; c) partner with faculty and other offices to embed library instruction and support into the curriculum as well as to foster collaboration between academics and the Library; d) oversee the operations of the Learning Support team including statistics, reporting, staff supervision, training and budget management, etc; e) derive innovative measures to promote the information literacy programs, related library services and facilities; f) represent the Library in different committees and task forces both internally and externally; and g) perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and University Librarian. Shift duties on evening, weekends and public holidays will be required.
Requirements
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, particularly in the humanities, business or social science; (ii) recognized professional qualifications in Librarianship (MLS or equivalent); (iii) at least three years of relevant working experience in libraries, preferably in academic libraries; (iv) sound knowledge of information literacy, current and emerging trends in reference services, research support, intellectual property and copyright issues; (v) a good command of English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and (vi) the ability to work independently and in teams. Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
