Assistant Manager, Engineering & Building Maintenance

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing engaging, sincere, personalized service to our guests and colleagues through the maintenance department.
- Provides supervision, administration, leadership and direction to maintenance team.
- Develops and implements administrative standards, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency, safety and prompt service to internal and external guests.
- Ensures delivery of exceptional service through focus on training, problem resolution and employee satisfaction.
- Ensures highest level of productivity through regular spot checks, proactive staff planning and effective scheduling.
- Looks into assigning daily work orders and projects in accordance to the qualifications of the staff and priority/urgency of the job.
- Makes purchase orders and keeps inventory of parts/materials on hand, Orders parts to maintain minimum inventory level.
- Coordinates the Preventive Maintenance program with the Engineering Manager and implements an effective reinforcement technique.
- Suggests new techniques and ideas for effective training and development of the Engineering team.
- Assigns and tracks work orders performing constant follow-up on tasks to ensure these are completed professionally and according to Fairmont Standards.
- Adheres to, and ensures the team adheres to, Health & Safety policy and ensuring safe work practices are followed at all times.
- Ensures that all mechanical and other areas in the hotel do not pose a safety hazard to any individual.
- Ensures that contractors working on hotel jobs sign in and wear contractor badges before proceeding to their work place. They are to sign the necessary liability forms.
- Monitors of the fire panel and sprinkler systems in the building to ensure that regular and preventive maintenance jobs are completed by the specified contractors as specified.
- Sets an example to the team in quality workmanship and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Communicates effectively with other departments. Replaces the Engineering Manager in communication meetings as needed.
- Supports and works with the Engineering Manager in meeting Environmental standards and suggests innovative ideas for energy savings and conservation.
- Work with and supports the Engineering Manager in meeting engineering expense lines and adherence to monthly and annual reforecast.
- Other related duties as assigned.
