The HKUST Business School is searching for a capable and dynamic individual to fill the position of Assistant Manager (Faculty Research Data Support) to provide support on faculty data infrastructure. The role is to manage a team of analysts/programmers to assist faculty members in harvesting, compiling and managing large-scale data sets for their research projects. The job scope includes:

• developing a platform for integration of data resources, website and research application development;
   
• maintaining and managing computer server and software applications;
   
• leading, coordinating and ensuring the smooth operation of ad hoc projects to assist faculty members in downloading and compiling new data sets from public or other designated sources; and developing custom programs and API to scrape and process public data;
   
• being the interface with faculty members to define project scope and data requirements; leading the analysts/programmers to complete the research data and application development projects for faculty members with the highest quality and efficiency;
   
• compiling and analyzing data related to research activities of the School;
  
  
• supporting the Associate Dean (Research) in liaising and organizing activities related to cross-disciplinary and cross-departmental research collaboration and idea exchange; and
  
  
• performing any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean (Research).

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer science or related disciplines with at least 5 years of post-qualification work experience. They should be proficient in using software packages such as office utilities (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), database management systems and SQL. Experience in Python or R programming, and Web programming and API development is a must. Experience in developing, configuring and managing large-scale data platforms such as Hadoop and NoSQL databases will be advantageous. They must be proficient in written and spoken English, and able to communicate in Chinese (Cantonese and preferably in Putonghua). (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
