We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Manager Sanctions Advisory. 

In this role, you will

  • ​The role holder will be required to understand and keep up to date with the Group strategy on Sanctions governance and the impact that is has on the Region.
  • The role holder will need to ensure all governance process are adhered to the requirements as set out in the Global Sanctions Policy and relevant Sanctions procedures. The nature of the role requires close working contact with Country Sanctions Officer across the Region
  • The role holder is responsible for the second line of defense oversight of FCC risks within the Regional Sanctions Advisory Team whilst providing advice and support to the first line.
  • The role holder will provide advice and recommendations for specific business risks, working with the  
  • Identify and respond to external Regional trends and regulatory requirements which have a Regional impact and ensure measures are taken to keep fully up to date with changes to advice being provided
  • Work closely with Countries to provide advice or recommendations for specific business, product risks provided by Global Business Line
  • Where identified escalate potential Sanctions breaches in the appropriate manner to the required escalation point and
  • Escalate customer and transaction risk approvals which require Regional Sanctions approval and included advice and guidance on the completion of these and the correct escalation path, ensuring Global Sanctions are notified.
  • Work collegiately with Internal Audit to ensure effective deployment of agreed Regional audit strategies, providing support to all Regional Sanctions Advisory team actions
  • Liaise with Regional Sanctions Advisory Manager to update relevant stakeholders within Global FCC, Regional FCC, and Country FCC teams to provide expertise and support on all Regional level Sanctions related matters
  • Provides support in managing Sanctions risk for HSBC
  • Maintain awareness of operational risk within direct reporting line and across the Region and minimise the likelihood of it occurring
  • Supports businesses and functions to address any actual and potential Sanctions compliance issues 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • ​Risk professional with experience in one or more risk compliance roles, to include Sanctions experience
  • Knowledge of Sanctions regulations and guidance
  • Is able to create, read and fully understand the content SWIFT messages
  • Experience in the financial services industry, specifically within a payments environment
  • Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues
  • Well developed leadership skills
  • High level of English language skills
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to adapt to change and provide input where necessary
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex issues
