Job Purpose
Act as a key team member of the Greater China regional merchandising team, overseeing assigned product categories, managing and executing in-season management, and building and leading the merchandise strategies to drive and maximize sales locally. The role is accountable to work directly with other APAC teams to drive the region’s product strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1.Point Person for Country Merchandising Strategy
Key communicator of the assigned labels’ and categories’ seasonal merchandising strategy to in-region Retail teams as presented by the APAC and Corporate teams
Responsible for the Seasonal Product training to the in-region Retail and digital teams
Support and Conduct product training at season kick off, brand specialist summits
Support and work with training team regarding product knowledge enhancement training throughout the season
Share and present upcoming merchandising and label initiatives at Retail Summits
Supporting APAC teams on any new/updated label strategies and creating a plan applicable to the local market with an understanding of variations in needs by cluster and store customer profile.
Join weekly/bi weekly conference calls with in-region Retail and Digital teams to touch base with all merchandising related issues, and take action instantly to drive sales.
2.Sales Driver and Ownership
Run varies sales reports and analyze data weekly to identify current sales trend, inventory opportunities, and recommend and take action in partnership with key functions in order to drive sales:
Sales/EOH by season, concept, class, style, stores
Co-ordinate with creative presentation and visual merchandising team to maximize the sales opportunities
Recommend Markdowns/Promotions to mitigate end-of-season inventory liability
Call out any Initial Product delivery issues and/or Propose Replenishment
Co-ordinate Bi-Weekly in-region products transfer/consolidation with support of APAC allocation team
Conduct in-region transfer/consolidation to support in-store events, mall promotions or sales needs
Support any PR opportunities, marketing events, exclusive needs (China digital), etc.
Support in-region retail teams on merchandising related topics, such as assortment needs and differentiation, product call outs and defects, POS system errors, etc.
3.Local Market Expert
Support, organize, and participate in in-region market visits by key partners from Corporate and APAC
Comprehensive understanding of market including competitor analysis, pricing research, product research, consumer research
Support APAC teams in understanding China market by organizing and collecting regional feedback from store managers/local retail team on the Chinese market trends, successes/opportunities and the end consumer to influence and improve the future collections for the country
Requirements
Highly Proficient in English and Mandarin (speaking and writing)
Strong analytical skills and comprehensive understanding of "retail math".
Proficient on excel and general computer knowledge
Excellent product sensibility and conceptual ability
Ability to multi task and prioritize
Able to adapt to the fast paced and constantly changing environment
Take Self initiative
Positive, “can-do” attitude, collaborative mindset
At least 1~2 years experience in fashion apparel and accessories industry with knowledge in merchandising and retail environment
