Our client is a large player in the retail industry. With a number of new strategic business partnerships on the horizon, they are looking to add a assistant merchandiser to their team to help meet production and capacity demands.

The Buyer is responsible for the review and execution of sourcing requirements to support production. Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Responsible for end-to-end management of assigned commodities
• Responsible to advise the Purchase Price Variance (PPV) based on material availability to the program manager
• As part of the mitigation process, work with supplier & program manager for reduction and/or return opportunities of material
• Resolution of non-conforming material ("NCM") disposition
• Work directly with assigned customer focus team to report material status for all related material of assigned programs
• Ensure that Company supply chain strategy and objectives are incorporated in the solicitation and supplier selection processes
• Participate in product cost reduction initiatives, lead-time reviews, and other special projects as necessary
• Perform all other duties, as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 5+ years purchasing experience, preferably trading company/logistics industry
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with fluent English
• Detail oriented with strong organisational skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise based upon deadlines
• Strong problem solving skills
• Must be a team player and highly motivated
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience working with Excel required
• ERP experience
