2.Position: Assistant Principal, Pastoral and Boarding;
3.Location: Pudong District, Shanghai;
4.Reporting to – Executive Principal;

Job Description

Boarding System Management
To set up the boarding system of the School;
To design update and implement boarding procedures for the School;
To ensure the highest standards of presentation within the School boarding houses;
To oversee all the boarding students of the School;
To supervise the arrangement of teacher’s evening duties and build up the system of the evening study hall;
To line manage HSMs and life teachers ensuring efficient operation of all boarding houses;
To be required to live on the campus based on the school requirement;
To assume overall responsibility for a safe, secure and supportive boarding provision for secondary-age students residing on campus;
To ensure effective communication among boarding staff which includes appropriate involvement of staff in decision making;
To endeavor to build close links between the boarding provision and the families it serves, encouraging parental involvement where appropriate;
To lead on the creation and maintenance of prep and boarding rotas in the School;

Student Well-being Management
To cooperate with School Operations regarding supervising the quality and safety of food supply in the cafeteria;
To take a leadership role regarding the student’s boarding life facilities’ management such as the policy for the usage of student laundry facilities, the replacement and cleaning of student bedding, fostering the development of personal hygiene habits and responsibilities;
To ensure that record keeping in Houses is maintained appropriately;

Pastoral Care System Management
To be in charge of the PSHE Education and provide the related training to the teachers;
To build up the pastoral care system of the School;
To oversee pastoral care of all students in the School;
To design update and implement pastoral procedures for the School;
To ensure effective communication among pastoral staff which includes appropriate involvement of staff in decision making;
To provide pastoral training to staff in the School;
To liaise with the Medical Centre about ill or injured students and preventing injury and illness;
To act as the School point of contact for and arrange student appointments with the school psychologist;
To act as safeguarding lead to the School;
Support day and residential trips to enhance and encourage the skills and experience of all pupils;
To be responsible, with the other section leaders, for the behavior of students in the School;
To share, update and implement the School behavior policy;
To lead the anti-bullying approach in the School;
To oversee the operation of rewards and sanctions;
To enforce the observance of the school’s rules by all students;
To oversee the standards of dress, appearance and behavior of students;
To liaise with parents as required;

House System Management
To build up the whole School housing management systems including but not limited to the house competition, sports activities etc.;
Offer extra-curricular activities to support the ethos and enrichment of the school’s provision;
To Contribute to and attend whole school community events throughout the year;
To effectively communicate with the head of school division to ensure the consistency of the whole school house management system;

Academic Related
It is anticipated that the post holder will retain some classroom teaching, at most 14 periods per week;
To oversee the afterschool academic extent classes from middle school to high school. Ensure clear communication with colleagues within the school;
To support the G11/G12 student’s with their UCAS application or other applications;

School Routines
To work closely with academic director to achieve the academic rigour within the School;
To support HoDs and teaching staff and ensure that students are working to the highest possible standards. To initiate reviews of student performance and recommend actions to The Executive Principal as appropriate;
To oversee the tutor central program (especially the pastoral care part) throughout the middle school and high school, to make sure the program has been well implemented within the School;
To provide the support to the college counselor to keep abreast of university entry issues and produce a database of university interview information;
Participate in CPD activities;
To participate in the marketing of the school;
To be required to attend the school admission event/open day based on the requirement of the School;

Requirements

1.Bachelor's degree or above;
2.Clear criminal background check;
3.A minimum 3 years of previous teaching experience in education, 3 years or more experience of working with IGCES/A-Level curriculum desirable but not essential;
4.Previous experience of pastoral care systems and PSHE;
5.Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the boarding remit;
6.Previous experience in a secondary boarding school situation;
7.Experience within a Chinese and/or Asian culture (Desirable);
8.Similar working experience role as (assistant) Housemaster. (Desirable);

1.Base salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications;

For Single- 10,000 RMB per year;
For Couple- 15,000 RMB per year;
