Job Description

FACULTY OF ARTS

Department of Chinese Language and Literature

The Department of Chinese Language and Literature seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor with the expertise in Classical Confucian works (Shangshu), Korea or Japan Confucianism and East-Asian Cross-Cultural Study. Duties include: (a) teaching courses in relevant subjects; (b) supervising students in thesis writing; (c) preparing course syllabi; and (d) performing administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Chinese Language, Chinese Literature, Chinese Culture, or a relevant discipline. The appointee is expected to have 1-2 years’ teaching experience in Bachelor or Master Programme, and fluent speaking and writing in Korean or Japanese are preferable.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years commencing no later than September 2021. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Remuneration package includes retirement/gratuity benefits, annual leave, medical and dental scheme, housing assistance and relocation allowance wherever appropriate.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
