Assistant Research Development Manager II

Centre for Cultural Research and Development

(Post Ref.: 20/178/SW)

The Centre for Cultural Research and Development (CCRD), currently, Kwan Fong Cultural Research and Development Programme, will formally come into existence in September 2020, to mark twenty years of the Department of Cultural Studies with which the Centre will be affiliated. It will begin with four ambitious research programmes, each to be led by a Research Coordinator. The programmes, titled Cultures of Mobility and Migration, Cultures of Sustainability, Cultures of Sound and Music, and Virality and Digital Futures, will be cross-cutting programmes, with projects housed across and between programmes where appropriate. Each Research Programme will raise its own funds for research, Knowledge Transfer projects, and outreach activities in the cultural sector in Hong Kong and the region. Going forward, each Programme will also have affiliated research fellows, post-doctoral fellows, and research post-graduate students.

While CCRD intends to make a strong contribution to research in inter-disciplinary cultural studies, it also aims to create an interface with the arts sector in Hong Kong and in Asia. This will be achieved through joint research and practice-based programmes involving both Cultural Studies faculty and cultural practitioners. Annual activities of the CCRD will include a bi-monthly distinguished speaker series, workshops and conferences conducted by the Research Programmes, and off-campus events co-hosted with partner institutions in the cultural sector.

The appointee will be the chief coordinator of the CCRD’s activities. He/she will (a) work closely with the Centre’s Director, Associate Director, and the coordinators of the Research Programmes for the streamlined functioning of the Centre; (b) be responsible for the smooth and effective administration of the Centre; (c) liaise with other units of the University and with external partners; (d) oversee the fundraising efforts of the Centre, and (e) oversee the web presence and media outreach of the Centre.

Requirements

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor degree, preferably in cultural studies or related disciplines; (ii) strong sense of responsibility, meticulous and well organized; (iii) proficiency in PC operations; and (iv) high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese; and (v) good analytical and interpersonal skills. Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Salary and Benefits

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
