Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Scientist, are to: 

 

  • Follow established test methods, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to generate data and maintain complete and accurate records of laboratory work after training;
  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical laboratory instruments;
  • Provide basic data analysis and interpretation after analytical testing;
  • Be responsible for lab management task, including sample and reagent inventory management, instrument and logbook maintenance;
  • Draft protocols and report for analytical studies to be finalized in discussion with the manager;
  • Work with process Subject Matter Expert’s, Operations, Engineering and Maintenance functions to support projects and troubleshooting activities;
  • Organize and analyze data from studies and presents as necessary;
  • Evaluate data to adequately assess process deviations and implement effective CAPA’s.
  • Escalate appropriately as required;
  • Work with minimal supervision after training and ensures laboratory safety protocols are followed.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering or Master’s degree with up to two years hands-on experience in analytical lab, ideally in the biopharmaceutical or biotech industry environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Competency with common laboratory operations, including accurate weighing, dilution, pH measurement, UV assay and similar techniques;
  • Demonstrate good understanding and knowledge of protein chemistry and common analytical techniques for protein/biologics analysis (such as HPLC/UPLC/SEC, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis) and method or instrument trouble-shooting;
  • Must be comfortable with collaboration with bioprocess scientists/engineers supporting bioprocess (cell-culture, purification, drug product) related project;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain good record keeping;
  • Requires technical writing, record keeping, and strong communication skills;
  • Must be able to troubleshoot typical problems encountered during routine lab operations;
  • Must show initiative in keeping abreast of literature in field of interest.
