In this role, you will assist the enterprise in leveraging data assets to full capacity.  You will ensure that data policies and standards are enforced to increase the usability of high-quality data assets.  You will be a key contributor to build a more data-focused culture at Amgen and advocate for the proper use of and attention to data. 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with Data Architects, Business SMEs and Data Scientists to capture metadata to increase the ease of use of data assets. 

  • Maintain domain specific data definitions and business rules. 

  • Assist in defining business data quality requirements. 

  • Measure data quality and defines data related KPIs important to all stakeholders. 

  • Define and manage relevant service requests, issues and changes in accordance with Service Level agreements. 

  • Defines and maintains the Data Privacy & Security standards for the set of data elements under her or his stewardship. 

  • Proactively identify & implement opportunities to automate tasks and develop reusable frameworks. 

  • Monitor data usage to assist teams, share best practice trends in data use, and provide insight into how and where teams can use data to help in day-to-day decision-making. 

 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science 

  • OR 

  • Associate’s degree and 4 years of data management experience 

  • OR 

  • High school diploma / GED and 6 years of data management experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to work with business stewards to capture glossary definitions and the other related metadata. 

  • Ability to assess and facilitate impact analysis of a system change.  

  • Ability to execute data remediation and impact assessment efforts. 

  • Hands on experience writing SQL using any RDBMS (Redshift, Postgres, MySQL, Teradata, Oracle, etc.). 

  • Hands on experience using Databricks/Jupyter or similar notebook environment. 

  • Experience working in an agile environment (i.e. user stories, iterative development, etc.)​ 

  • Experience working with test-driven development and software test automation​ 

  • Experience working in Product teams environment
