Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel will be responsible for day-to-day legal support of both Amgen Turkey and its wholly owned subsidiary, Mustafa Nevzat.
General Business Support
- Advice on general business matters
- Draft and/or review commercial agreements, including consultancy, procurement, service, supply & sale, contract manufacturing & toll manufacturing, in-licensing, out-licensing, co-marketing, distributorship, technology transfer, profit-sharing agreements, etc.
- Manage contract template repositories
- Support technical operations and deal with all aspects of manufacturing activities
- Support export activities
- Provide litigation support
Compliance
- Advice on general compliance matters, including interactions with health care professionals
- Advice on data privacy issues
R&D/Medical Affairs Support
- Support local clinical development and contracting team (e.g. clinical trial agreements, informed consent forms)
- Draft and/or review various agreements with health care professionals
Corporate Governance
- Advice on and coordinate various corporate governance matters involving both Amgen Turkey and Mustafa Nevzat, e.g. general assembly meetings, signature circulars, capital increases, POAs, etc.
Administrative matters
- Manage external counsel
- Budget: monitor costs vs. estimates; proper invoicing
- Ensure that relevant documents are loaded timely onto ILG departmental database
The Associate Counsel will work closely with other members of the ILG in Europe as well as attorneys at Amgen’s global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA, external counsel and a wide variety of Amgen client stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Professional Qualifications:
- Strong academic credentials and a law degree from a recognized university law faculty. Qualification to practice law in Turkey
- Minimum of 3 years of practice in the life sciences practice of a well-regarded law firm and/or the law department of a life sciences company.
- Good general knowledge of regulatory and healthcare compliance issues, data privacy, anti-corruption and competition law
- Solid knowledge of general commercial law
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in English

- Good judgment and maturity, capable of assessing and advising internal clients on legal risks and proposing successful solutions, knowing when to escalate matters, and capable of taking a stand in the interests of the corporation
- Self-aware person who can prioritize work effectively, successfully manage client expectations, knows his or her own limits, and can work well with a variety of personalities/capabilities in cross-functional teams
- Proactive “self-starter” who is results-oriented and capable of taking the lead on projects to drive clear and timely outcomes
- Conducts self in an ethical manner and is respectful of others
