Job Description

OFFICE OF COUNSELLING AND WELLNESS 

Associate Counsellor (two posts) (Ref. 20032501-E) 

Duties 

The appointees will be required to:

a) provide counselling services to students individually and in groups; 

b) handle cases in crisis situations under supervision; 

c) design and conduct developmental programmes and university-wide events/campaigns for the promotion of psychological, physical and spiritual wellness of students; 

d) work closely with academic faculties/departments in enhancing students’ holistic development; 

e) conduct training for staff on campus and in student halls on issues concerning students’ psycho-social well-being and enhance their skills in handling students’ problems; 

f) liaise with academic staff, family members and external agencies on matters relating to students’ well-being; and 

g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or his/her delegates. 

The appointees may be required to work on irregular hours.

 

Qualifications 

Applicants should have:

a) a recognised degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a relevant discipline; 

b) at least five years’ relevant experience in counselling, preferably in educational setting and/or mental health setting; 

c) the ability to demonstrate good skills in case management, interpersonal relationship and team work; 

d) an excellent command of both written and spoken English; 

e) the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua is highly preferred; and 

f) a good servicing attitude.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test.

 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
