Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Development Engineer – Cell Culture, are to: 

 

  • Perform cell culture process development assignments of varying complexity using automation platforms such as: ambr, bioreactors and small scale;
  • Perform under instruction implementing and maintaining lab automation and data historian software including: FermWorks and Ignition software;
  • Investigate and troubleshoot problems during operation, understand and interpret cell culture parameters/attributes and the equipment; and organize/compile experimental data;
  • Execute, troubleshoot, and train other operators on instruments for routine on-the-floor analysis and automation systems including but not limited to: NOVA Flex, YSI, and Cedex;
  • Provide support to various cell culture projects with equipment and newly implemented technologies;
  • Provide support to develop and implement GBDEE  software system (new electronic data and documentation environment), and be able to train other users or provide assistance/troubleshooting on the system;
  • Provide support in and troubleshoot of OPC connections and Lab Data Management systems.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience or Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology;
  • Relevant experience in mammalian cell culture process, cell culture methods/techniques, bioreactor operation, and using related automated culture station and other equipment;
  • Ability to plan, design and perform experiments, assays, or procedures, including ability to troubleshoot routine or complex problems;
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and interpret results of complex experiments;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), and/or other computer software used in data analysis, databases, process controls, and presentations;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work with teams or cross-functional tasks;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of specialized laboratory and scientific techniques within a specialized area;
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in some combination of the following: Mammalian cell-culture techniques, Analytical/Biochemical/Automation methods, and culture medium, solutions, and buffer preparations, data analysis, presentation, database systems and process controls.
