Within AZ IT, Software Shared Services focuses on enterprise level solution platforms and development environments that are truly multi-functional in nature. The goal of the organization is to provide world-class solutions that are truly scalable, agile and delivered in the most efficient manner by partnering with our Customer Facing IT groups to deliver and achieve to the business outcomes.

This role is for API and Integration Services Lead. The lead will provide leadership to the current API and Integrations Services team and further improve the service offering. The role will involve working closely with our Customer Facing IT organizations to continue optimization of the existing Middleware footprint, utilising leading edge software development tools, methods and platforms. The role will also be responsible for leading the plan, architect, design, development, testing, documentation and implementation of comprehensive integration solutions that enable AstraZeneca to discover and develop new innovative medicines.

This role requires an individual with strong partner management, people management, technical skills and global organizational management experience delivering projects.

The key area of focus for this role is to deliver solutions using various methodologies such as Lean, Agile and traditional methods as necessary.

The candidate will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following activities:

  • Build a cohesive project /programme team and provide the leadership necessary to maximize the team’s success.
  • Enhance and Optimize Service introduction plans to enable efficient transition of existing applications for support and maintenance.
  • Drive effective risks & issues management, ensuring processes are in place and effectively used. Ensure problems resolved and raise as appropriate.
  • Enable Agile projects to deliver business value from day one.
  • Provide technical leadership, technical expertise, direction and support to Software Engineers, programs, project teams and capability networks.
  • Lead project execution, resource deployment, and overall leadership and coordination of efforts within multiple projects to ensure the projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Use technical knowledge and expertise to support the design and coding of software solutions.
  • Proactively work with, challenge and influence Enterprise Strategy and Architecture to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of solution delivery, and especially to assist in the wider adoption of the API strategy, technology standards and strategies that are representative of the business/functional area needs.
  • Ensure that solution architecture and designs are aligned with appropriate guidelines and standards and are robust to address business, application, information and infrastructure architectural requirements.
  • Ensure effective interoperability of services and technologies and ensure alignment of solutions with AstraZeneca standards, policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of software industry trends and specialized business needs, and proactively identify and drive identification of opportunities to be demonstrated in solutions delivered.
  • Coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Creating an environment that promotes collaboration within and across teams.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate

  • Experience in Cloud based Middleware and Integration Technologies along with the ability to formulate, drive and execute on enterprise wide strategies.
  • Experienced knowledge of software development, testing processes, and methodologies, and maintained by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Self-motivation and an ability to contribute to rapidly evolving programs.
  • A strong academic record (min. bachelor’s degree) with substantive experience in software development.
  • 12+ years of total experience with at least 6 years of experience leading and handling large teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience working in large consulting companies or System Integrators would be an added benefit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of tools that can help make software delivery and testing more effective.
  • Perform work without significant direction.
  • Experience leading agile teams to deliver projects following CI / CD processes, coding standard methodologies and tools

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Technical or Business Degree
  • Technical Authority in Agile Application Development
  • Proven skills and experience as a technical lead and scrum master on an agile project
  • Experience managing and leading global software development teams
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.
  • Quick learner, demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and programming languages as necessary
  • Knowledge of Digital and Data capabilities
  • Experience with Middleware or Integration Technologies

Desirable

  • Master’s degree
  • PMP or Scrum Master Certification

Job Dimensions – Review the standard role profile and capture the specific resource management accountabilities required in the role – $ &/or People; key relationship.

The position will work with the Capability Lead – Integration Services. This position will have multiple senior managers reporting directly and will serve as a key stake holder in the Integration Services Organization.

The role will have P&L responsibilities and will have a team size of over 60 resources. The position will serve as a key influencer in driving the API strategy.
