Associate Director, Communications and Public Relations, UK & Ireland – Allergan Aesthetics Marlow based Role Summary You will be responsible for developing, deploying, and executing the International Communications and Public Relations programs locally for country, as well as developing compelling communications platforms that reach, engage and motivate the target audience (both external and internal) for our consumer led Allergan Aesthetics business. In support of business strategy, you will develop and deploy the national Communications plan together with the country leadership team. Plans, coordinates, prepares, and relays information concerning the organization to the local press and the wider community to gain understanding and acceptance for the organization, according to the WE guidelines. Works closely with International Communications team based in Marlow, UK, as well as fellow in-country communicators in Must-Win Markets to learn, develop and execute highly impactful, strategic communication programs that cut across both traditional and digital communication approaches and platforms. Works closely with public relations and digital communication agencies as a valuable, strategic voice within the Country Leadership Team, and as a go-to counsellor for country leadership on critical issues impacting the business. Lead on relevant Advocacy and Government Affairs activity that impact the business, our operating environment, and our reputation. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement annual corporate communications strategy in close alignment with International Communication plans and country priorities. Develop, execute and follow-up media strategy in close collaboration with the selected PR agency to raise Allergan profile and increase awareness of corporate brand & activities. Collaborate with HR to develop and monitor internal communications strategy & plan. Develop and manage internal communication tools such as intranet, Yammer, newsletters to improve employee engagement. Lead content development and production including corporate materials, key messages, newsletters, speeches, interviews, internal notifications, corporate press release, corporate & CSR events and so forth. Manage PR & GA agencies and monitor the performance via weekly reports and KPIs. Develop and monitor local corporate communications guidelines and SOPs including internal communication, press release, social/digital media, CSR, corporate sponsorships/donations. Take responsibility for the development and management of local website, including updating the content and making improvements to functionality and advising cross-functions on maximizing the site’s potential. Collaborate with business units to ensure that brand communications activities are aligned with corporate communications. Monitor and evaluate communication activities and provide inputs & support when necessary. Lead on relevant Advocacy and Government Affairs activity that impact the business, our operating environment and our reputation. Identify prioritized issues and maintain / enhance our reputation amongst stakeholders. Set metrics to measure successes of corporate communication & PR programs. Monitor and forecast a corporate communications budget. Act as main point of contact for communications with regards to International/Global communication projects, PR programs, press inquiries, corporate events. Qualifications Experience BSc degree in communications, PR, marketing, or a related background Strong experience in communications – ideally within healthcare / consumer-based industry (this may have been gained via in-house marketing, from PR agency or public affairs experience). Previous experience working with media, PR and communications agencies, patient advocacy organizations. Experience of creating and managing advocacy campaigns, including the development of clear positions, and building consensus / coalitions to achieve positive change Experience using multiple communications challenges beyond traditional PR including digital channels. Demonstrated excellence in strategic public relations and communications planning, ideally for high-profile pharmaceutical or consumer brands, for pharmaceutical brands with strong competitors and/or for strategic launches for an organization. Experience of handling media-led issues and understanding of media coverage likely to cause additional media reactions/comments or cascade to other countries. Good knowledge of local code of practice & regulations for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Ability to identify and respond to contentious, politically and/or culturally sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality.
