General Position Summary/Purpose: The Associate Director of Competitive Intelligence (CI) will support PCYC’s commercial planning efforts by providing objective, in-depth information about current and future markets and competitors. They interpret changes in the competitive landscape, translates them to impact on PCYC and offers recommendations on strategic and tactical steps that can best position PCYC for the future. As such, this person acts as a strategic advisor to the US commercial teams with deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the marketplace as well as functional expertise in how to use CI to develop competitive strategies. This person collaborates very closely with Senior Management, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory and other teams to develop an aligned PCYC view of the interpretation and impact of market events. He/she also works closely with Market Research to shape and ensure alignment on MR projects and strategy. They also will work with the Alliance partners to ensure a common understanding of the events and their significance. Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities: Collaborate with Sr. Management, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Development, other departments within PCYC and partner organization to determine information & analysis needs and align on the market event timings, likely impact, and their expected timing Develop the overall competitive intelligence plans for the US based on the annual corporate priorities. Develop plan for meeting business needs and manage workflow to implement and complete competitive intelligence projects. Proactively formulate and communicate recommendations of the CI project results to key internal stakeholders in a timely, accurate, and insightful way Manage all aspects of competitive intelligence project initiation, design, implementation, and completion for assigned projects (including conference coverage Provide thoughtful and timely updates to CI assumptions and timelines in response to rapidly changing landscape Be the lead for Commercial to prepare PCYC for the major conferences of interest, and gather insights, synthesize them, work with Medical Affairs to jointly provide summaries and debriefs to the leadership team during and after the conferences Provide an objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial, clinical, and scientific competitive information. Make recommendations on brand strategy that prepare the brand for a competitive marketplace. Liaise with Alliance CI counterparts to ensure up-to-date competitive intelligence and assumptions are shared with all appropriate US teams (includes congresses, breaking news, pipeline updates, therapeutic area landscape reviews) Collaborate with brand to plan for competitor launches by planning local strategy games and supporting rigorous competitive readiness plans. Lead competitive threat assessments to develop rigorous team assumptions about key competitors; ensure local assumptions are consistent with global assumptions. Provide situational analysis support for quarterly business reviews, brand planning, launch readiness reviews, etc. Establish and provide regular performance reporting of relevant market data insights Develop, manage, and track budget for CI Work on innovative programs to increase the value of competitive intelligence processes and practice and analyze the success of these programs. Liaise across the broader Analytics team to deliver holistic analytic insights to the brands. Develop deep clinical understanding about key indications of interest to IMBRUVICA Role While the role is an individual contributor role, the expectation on the collaboration with Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Medical Affairs requires a person of deep knowledge, experience and excellent interpersonal skills. This role requires the person to develop an in-depth knowledge of Imbruvica, the competition (both in-class and ex-class), the tumor types of interest as well as the overall Hematology space. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Master’s/PhD/MD degree in a biological/ medical/ analytics field strongly preferred Minimum of 12 years of experience in pharma / biotech At least 5 years of experience in CI or related field such as business development Experience in Hematology or Oncology Strong strategic consulting skills and building recommendations based on observations and analyses Excellent oral, written and presentation skills Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time Strong collaboration skills across multiple diverse functional leaders Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to think strategically and solve problems Proven ability to collaborate and drive performance in a fast-paced environment Outstanding project management and budget management skills Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities Significant Work Activities Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day) Travel Yes, 25 % of the Time Job Type Experienced Schedule Full-time Job Level Code M Equal Employment Opportunity At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
