The Operational Transfer Pricing (OTP) team is responsible for the operationalisation of Transfer Pricing Policy across the AstraZeneca Group. It comprises a central UK team of 3 individuals supported by a regional team in our offshore Group Financial Services centres, alongside business partners in Group Tax, R&D, and local Finance. The Operational Transfer Pricing team is a key part of AstraZeneca’s Group Tax team; part of the wider Finance organisation within AstraZeneca and based in our Global Headquarters in Cambridge.

As the Associate Director/Director of Operational Transfer Pricing, you will lead the Operational Transfer Pricing team. You will be accountable for ensuring the group transfer pricing policy is accurately reflected in financial statements and tax filings of our worldwide group, taking ownership of the key stakeholder relationships throughout the business, and leading the development of continuous improvement as the business and tax environment evolves.

Specifically you will:

  • Provide strategic direction to the Operational Transfer Pricing team and the Global Finance Services team based in Poland, KL and Costa Rica to ensure accurate and timely delivery of transfer pricing processes including transfer pricing policy execution, annual process calendar, and resource planning

  • Be an authority in Group tax in understanding the product landscape and supply chain of the Group

  • Understand the financial accounting and planning principles that influence the transfer price calculations

  • Partner effectively with the business to ensure OTP meets its commitments with inter-dependent business critical processes such as statutory close, subsidiary accounts, FX, product costing, customs duty and supply chain

  • Be accountable for ensuring there are structured, standardised processes operating in a robust control environment, coordinating operational transfer pricing approvals and issue resolution

  • Provide relevant support on global tax audits and support the statutory financial statements audit of the group and its subsidiaries

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement and business change initiatives to ensure our Operational Transfer Pricing processes remain relevant in a constantly evolving environment

This role would ideally suit an in-house professional from a very large MNE, actively managing Operational Transfer Pricing execution, or a Senior Manager/Director in a big four with experience of leading a complex Operational Transfer Pricing implementation.

Essential for the role

  • You will be a chartered accountant or qualified tax advisor with significant experience obtained in managing and executing Operational Transfer Pricing initiatives in an MNE

  • You will have strong technical capability with a detailed knowledge of Operational Transfer Pricing requirements for goods and services

  • You will have the ability to navigate and manage sophisticated finance and supply chain stakeholder relationships, leading and coordinating in an organised manner

  • You will have experience working in an operating model that leverages a shared services organisation

  • You will have leadership experience in managing continuous improvement and business change

  • You will be proactive and willing to lead by example

  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable for the role

  • Experience of using Hyperion Financial systems
