To drive the assessment and execution of Merger & Acquisition (M&)A, Partnership (traditional and next generation), Health & Wellness ecosystem partnership related transactions and other key strategic projects. Working in partnership with business units, group functions and potential business partners (where relevant) to identify and assess acquisition opportunities, develop transaction rationales, formulate bid strategy and support execution thereof that will allow AIA to pursue strategically important inorganic growth opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

End-to-end transaction management of inorganic opportunities including:

  • Facilitate and drive discussion amongst multi-functional deal teams for live transactions, including the coordination among internal AIA stakeholders and external professional parties, including financial advisors, legal counsels, accountants and other advisors, to ensure smooth and efficient execution of transaction
  • Work closely with multiple AIA internal functions, such as Partnership Distribution, Actuarial and Finance, Legal, Risk to assess potential opportunities and targets and options available to AIA on live transactions, with the view of strategic fit with AIA and values for AIA shareholders
  • Lead / facilitate the development of proposals and management presentation materials with relevant AIA internal functions
  • Facilitate the preparation and / or review of transaction documents, including due diligence assessments, Q&A process, business plans, financial assessment and bid tactics
  • Develop internal business case to update and seek approval/guidance from the Strategic initiative Committee (SIC) and Board regarding potential transactions

Support on development of internal governance framework and development of best practice tools and processes.

Assist other teams within Strategy / Corporate Development team to identify, evaluate, pursue and execute high impact growth opportunities, including bancassurance, and other strategic projects and initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Option identification
  • Option assessment
  • Proposition design
  • Action plan creation
  • Programme management
  • Implementation support

Lead a team to manage the database of Corporate Transactions team to facilitate target profiling and assessment.

Conduct market / target assessment to identify potential opportunities that meet strategic objectives, including market and target analysis, strategic fit and deal structuring and proposition.

Minimum Requirements:

  • MBA / Qualified Actuary / CFA preferred with an excellent academic record
  • Minimum 15 years relevant industry experience; previous M&A experience strongly preferred
  • Strong commitment and results driven with proven track record in driving and achieving results
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with external advisors, including actuarial consultants and financial advisors
  • Work collaboratively across multi-functions within Group Office and the Business Units including legal, finance, actuarial, country management, operations, PD, Agency, technology.
  • Strong strategic orientation and business sense
  • Proven ability to liaise, manage and partner with executives and working teams
