The position fulfills the following objectives:
*To support the continuous improvement and effective execution of best in class operational risk management practices
*To be the business partner for the assigned Group Office Functions and Business Units (BUs) on ORM related activities
*To be responsible for providing 2nd line oversight on Key Operational Risks
*To support the effective implementation of the Group Operational Risk and Control Framework
*To monitor Key Operational Risk Tolerance and maintain Key Risk Indicators
*To conduct Quality Assurance programme for the effective implementation or ORM activities in assigned Group Office functions and BUs

Roles and Responsibilities:

• To ensure key operational risks are identified, assessed, and reported timely and accurately to facilitate management oversight
• To oversee the day-to-day ORM activities across the business, including:
  • Review and challenge BU Operational Risk information
  • Review Operational Risk Management reporting pack (and underlying analysis) and present to the Head of Group ORM and Group CRO
  • To identify emerging risks and perform thematic reviews and provide recommendations
  • To conduct Quality Assurance Review on the ORM related activities in GO Functions and BUs
• To be the trusted risk advisor to the business, including in the following key activities:
  • Strategic/ Business Plan process
  • Product development
  • Material initiatives/ projects
  • Regulatory / Rating Agencies reviews
  • Training and day-today support
• To conduct Op Risk analysis and prepare ORM information and reports to Board Risk Committees, Group Operational Risk Committees and to provide the assurance that all material operational risks are either escalated or being appropriately managed by the 1st line.
• To support the continuous improvement and practical execution of Risk Governance to facilitate all the key risk management activities across the 3 Lines of Defence.

Financial and Non-Financial Measures:

• Operational Risk Management to be recognised by the business as value-adding, relevant and professional trusted advisors.
• AIA to have industry best ORM practices at Group and BU level.
• To have an enhanced Risk Culture and Awareness across the Group
• To develop a strong relationship with Group Senior Management and local CROs / Risk Teams, and to receive positive feedback on Group ORM’s contributions and support.

Communication Requirements

Internal

• Position requires significant interactions with Group Exco and their direct reports as well as local Exco members.
• Position also requires high level of exchanges with local CROs regarding the regular reports and ad hoc issues resolution.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Bachelor or Master Degree.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in operational risk management, preferably but not mandatorily in the in the life insurance industry
• In-depth knowledge of insurance operations such as product development, customer service, policy administration, sales, project management, technology, regulatory compliance, etc., or a fast learner with the eagerness to get to know the insurance industry
• Highly organized, results driven self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
• Fluent in spoken and written English with ability to present articulately with appropriate level of gravitas.
