Role
Airbnb is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate General Counsel with deep experience in managing high profile regulatory and other litigation and disputes across multiple European jurisdictions to join our legal team in EMEA at leadership level. Based in Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, Milan or Barcelona, you will report to our Deputy General Counsel in London with global coordination with the global litigation working group.
You will play a critical role in shaping Airbnb’s litigation strategy and work closely with legal team colleagues across Europe, North America, APAC & LatAm. You must have excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy and a proven ability to manage complex, strategically important litigation. We’re looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise.
Primary Responsibilities

High-profile litigation across EMEA including at the CJEU
-
Thoughtful and strategic management of an increasingly complex docket of litigation and disputes across the EU and EMEA more broadly

In conjunction with global litigation colleagues and country counsel, develop proactively and execute pan-jurisdictional strategies to manage existing and emerging litigation risks across EMEA

Effective supervision and direction of outside counsel on multiple litigation matters across EMEA

Provide concise and digestible legal advice internally, and represent the legal team in cross functional discussions on issues pertaining to existing litigation or potential regulatory challenges.
Experience/Qualifications:
-
Qualified in a EU jurisdiction/the UK with extensive experience of working on litigation matters - to include CJEU referrals - across multiple EU countries, the UK and EMEA. Dual EU/UK and US qualification is a plus. Class action experience a plus.

At least 12-15 years post-qualification experience

Knowledge of European and EMEA e-commerce and platform rules, with additional exposure to US platform rules an advantage.

Experience leading teams across multiple jurisdictions and cultures.

A flair for explaining complex and nuanced legal arguments and strategies to global stakeholders

Fluency in English is essential. Additional European languages an advantage
The successful candidate should also have:

Ability to work at pace, across global time zones and be excited about tackling novel areas of law.

Experience of working in a US headquartered firm or consumer facing technology business is highly desirable

Ability to understand technology-driven businesses, communicate concisely, and influence effectively across a wide audience internally and externally.
