Under the direction of the site Electrical Operations Lead and Engineer, Facilities & Engineering Utilities department, the Electrical Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the performance of electrical system operation and maintenance activities throughout the ARI site.
Responsibilities:
o Support the Amgen Licensed Electricians on daily routine electrical work
o Assist with the operation and maintenance of backup power / emergency power generation systems and Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS).
o Perform basic troubleshooting and assist with repair of electrical equipment and systems.
o Support operation and maintenance of Building Fire Alarm systems including assisting with operation of the system and troubleshooting activities.
o Interpret and update loop sheets, electrical schematics, P&ID's, I/O wiring, and panel drawings.
o Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner.
o Identify waste, workflow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend
solutions, and assist with implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
o Associate’s degree and 1 year of electrical maintenance experience
o OR
o High school diploma / GED and 3 years of electrical maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
o 3+ years of combined education, training, and experience in industrial electric operations and
maintenance and instrumentation/measurement and controls
o Ability and desire to work to obtain Rhode Island Class M electrician License
o Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form
o Theoretical understanding of control, analog and/or digital electronics, microprocessors and/or
computers
o Effective computer skills
o Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams
o Receptive to guidance and technical advice from others
