Department of Social Sciences

The Department of Social Sciences aims to be an international leader in social science research and education that empowers citizens with creative, critical, and transformational thinking skills, keen social and environmental awareness, and the confidence and empathy to serve actively to better local, national, and global societies and the natural environment. Its strengths lie in the disciplines of sociology, geography, political science, business studies, and social sciences education, with shared research interests in the broad issues of family, citizenship, minorities, climate change, religion, ethics, security, power, business, entrepreneurship, and education. 

To further enhance its research and teaching strengths, the Department invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in Finance, FinTech, Business Ethics, Personal Finance Education, and/or Promoting Financial Literacy. In addition to normal teaching duties, the appointee will be a key player in the teaching team of the Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education that aims to enhance educational value of financial literacy. 

The appointee will be expected to be an active researcher, able to conduct research that leads to publications in leading international journals, and to successfully acquire external research funding. He/She is also expected to contribute to entrepreneurship education at the University level. Applicants should provide evidence of past and current research and teaching accomplishments and a statement of teaching and research interests.  

Applicants should have a Doctoral Degree in Finance, Financial Education or related fields, and preferably with relevant professional membership and experience. Applicants should also have post-qualification teaching experience in the tertiary education sector.
