Job Purpose

In the ‘Quality Evaluation Team’, we lead RWS’s perpetual programme to monitor the quality of Translation work produced by RWS. Through our inspection programme, we generate and utilise large volumes of data for measuring our quality and identifying how we can improve our performance, in order to support RWS’s business aims and maintain strong relationships with our clients.

You work together with other members of the Quality Evaluation Team, to help gather Translation quality data and measure quality levels in relation to our defined quality standards.

You organise evaluations of our Translation work to check quality levels, including the arrangement of regular evaluations by external independent evaluators and by internal evaluators within RWS’s Language Delivery Offices for Translation.

You help to finalise evaluation reports through working closely and objectively with our internal teams for Translation, Customer Quality and Project Management.

You collate the evaluation results and create reports on a regular basis to show current quality levels and trends.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Gathering quality data for Translation for quality management and tracking, in line with direction from your manager
  • Obtaining samples of work for Translation from RWS Project Management and RWS Translation teams, in accordance with your manager’s designation
  • Organising quality evaluations by independent evaluators for translations produced by RWS
  • Organising evaluations within RWS Language Delivery Offices for Translation
  • Validating and finalising quality evaluation reports from evaluators, including checking categorisation of translation errors
  • Collating results from your evaluations on a monthly basis and creating a record in our quality management system if an evaluation result is below our acceptable standard
  • Identifying and qualifying new evaluators to meet capacity requirements set out by your manager
  • Updating data measures and indicators used to show current quality levels
  • Reporting on trends and observations based on analysis of the data you are gathering
  • Creating Purchase Orders for external freelance evaluators and facilitating the payment process when work has been performed satisfactorily
  • Maintaining other logs/systems/reports related to Translation performance
  • Actively proposing ideas and suggestions for improving RWS’s Translation quality management and monitoring

 

Skills & Experience

  • Accurate and reliable in completing tasks
  • Ability to gather data systematically from multiple sources and compile concise and error-free reports
  • Able to represent RWS’s requirements to external evaluators and to manage the evaluators through the full process to ensure the satisfactory completion of evaluations
  • Ability to investigate issues related to evaluation results in an objective and professional manner
  • Familiar with MS Excel for creating reports and records
  • Able to show initiative and contribute to the continuous improvement process in RWS
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work with RWS colleagues regardless of location
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Flexible and proactive approach to tackling tasks and problems
