Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Research Scientist, are to: 

 

  • Support the development of cell-based screening assays;
  • Lead subprojects in the development of cell-based screening assays;
  • Perform a variety of cell-based assays on genetic perturbations and therapeutic lead candidates;
  • Maintain human induced pluripotent stem cell culture (hiPSC) and regularly differentiate cells towards cardiomyocytes;
  • Perform as well as design experiments for different assays or procedures;
  • Prepare and update experimental protocols;
  • Aid in the generation of engineered systems involving iPS cells;
  • Perform immunostaining and fluorescent imaging;
  • Execute standard molecular and cellular assays: PCR, western blots, virus preparation
  • Perform data analysis independently and effectively interpret results;
  • Prepare reports and presentations;
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and interdisciplinary teams;
  • Be open to taking on challenging projects.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Strong data analysis and sharing skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prepare reports and clearly interpret the results of complex experiments;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems requiring original thought;
  • Bachelor’s in science or master’s in science degree in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field;
  • Two to three years of relevant work experience;
  • General mammalian cell culture experience;
  • Experience in culturing iPS cells and differentiating them towards cardiomyocytes;
  • Experience in CRISPR technologies
     
  • Preferred Qualifications:
     
  • Prior work in imaging and image-based analysis;
  • Basic understanding of gene editing technologies;
  • Understanding of cardiomyocyte physiology;
  • Experience with induced pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation toward cardiomyocyte;
  • Experience in solid works, Matlab and Autocad;
  • Experience with computational and data sharing skills.
