Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join a fast-paced team to discover novel therapeutic and reagent antibodies.
 

Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative Senior Associate/Associate Scientist to join the Antibody Discovery Team working onsite at our Amgen British Columbia site. The position would involve the isolation and manipulation of primary B-cells; hybridoma generation; the optimization and execution of novel screens and assay development. Well-suited applicant will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment. This individual will also have a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • FACS analysis of primary and immortalized cell populations

  • Isolation, manipulation, and immortalization of primary B-cells; generation and characterization of hybridoma panels

  • Experiments advancing established and new antibody discovery platforms; assay development

  • Frequent communication within the Cell Sciences Team, and other teams at the site; data compilation and presentation

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry and 2 years of scientific laboratory experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry and 4 years of scientific laboratory experience
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in antibody discovery technologies including hybridoma

  • Demonstrated experience in flow cytometry (FACS)

  • Expertise with aseptic cell culture techniques including:

    ·  Isolation and culture of primary immune cells

    ·  Cell line generation including experience with transfection on mammalian expression platforms

  • Experience with biochemical screens including ELISA and basic cellular imaging techniques and analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Thrives as a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment

  • Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills
