Associate Scientist - High Throughput Gene Assembly and Cloning – Biologics Discovery

What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join our antibody discovery group, located in British Columbia. Our team specializes in the discovery and characterization of antibody-based therapeutics to help treat grievous human disease.
You will join the Antibody Repertoire Engineering and Screening (ARES) team and contribute to the establishment of a novel automated, high-throughput antibody cloning pipeline to support antibody discovery projects. Your work will be key to enabling projects using Amgen’s XenoMouse® and UniRat® transgenic animal antibody discovery platforms.
In this critical role you will:
Help assess, procure and build-out new infrastructure (hardware and software) to enable automated high throughput antibody cloning.
Work closely with other molecular biologists to optimize gene assembly and cloning workflows.
Adapt standard molecular biology protocols to those compatible with advanced automation technology (eg. liquid handlers, colony picking, etc.).
Support antibody discovery programs through execution of the high throughput cloning pipeline.
Leverage pioneering LIMS systems for data management and sample tracking.
Tackle problems and innovate.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology (or a related field), with at least 4 years experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting.
ORMaster’s degree in molecular biology (or a related field) and 2+ years experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting.
Experience with modern gene assembly and cloning techniques (eg. Golden Gate, Gibson, Gateway, etc.)
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with high throughput gene assembly and cloning.
Hands-on experience with automation (eg. liquid handling, colony picking, DNA purification, etc.).
Highly proficient with data management software systems.
Experience producing and working with recombinant antibodies.
