What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Department of Oncology at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to perform research in immuno-oncology. In this vital role, you will contribute to the group’s mission to gain a deep understanding of immune-mediated regulation of the tumor microenvironment, and contribute to pipeline projects by identification and validation of novel targets and immunotherapeutic strategies.

You will:

  • Work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with other functional areas including In Vivo Pharmacology, Research Biomarker, and Computational Biology.
  • Make impactful scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and breakthroughs of the Immuno-Oncology group.
  • Independently design, perform, and analyze laboratory experiments, including optimization of assays.
  • Advance therapeutic discovery programs and evaluate new technologies.
  • Present data in department and team meetings and contribute to external presentations including posters and manuscripts.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 2 years of scientific experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience in immunology and myeloid cell biology.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular, cellular, and ex-vivo biological techniques and assays, including isolation and culture of primary cells.
  • Research experience with preclinical models of cancer and immuno-oncology.
  • Flow cytometry and multi-parametric analysis (5+ colors) experience and familiarity with bioinformatic tools is desired.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work in a flexible, collaborative environment.
  • Attention to detail, translating into high quality results.
