What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen’s Oncology Research organization is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology research team at Amgen's Thousand Oaks, CA site (ATO) and contribute to the discovery and advancement of novel therapeutics for Oncology and Cancer Immunotherapy programs. In this vital role you will perform in vivo experiments - including, but not limited to, dosing compounds by various administration routes, efficacy and PK/PD (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics) studies, surgery procedures, sample collection and mammalian tissue culture. This individual will also perform ex vivo analyses to determine mechanism of action and evaluate pharmacodynamic parameters. Additional responsibilities will include involvement in the design of experimental protocols and procedures, coordinating studies across functions, analyzing and interpreting data, and reporting results to multidisciplinary teams. Many opportunities will exist to participate in group and project meetings, as well as attend seminars.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree and 2 years of Life Sciences, Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology or related field experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Life Sciences, Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology or related field experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, preferably in an industry setting.
  • Highly proficient in of all aspects of preclinical murine tumor models and rodent handling including dosing (IV, SC, IP, and PO), tissue collection, tumor cell injection and measuring, and surgical technique.
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture, ELISA, multiparameter flow cytometry, and primary murine and human immune cell assays is desired.
  • Proficiency with FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Capacity to aid in the design of scientific experiments and effectively document scientific results.
  • High degree of motivation, independence, creativity, and problem solving ability.
  • Excellent organization skills, along with the ability to work in a flexible team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail and consistent delivery of high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow.
