In this vital role, you will join the Molecular Biology group, and apply molecular biology techniques to generate DNA constructs used for making proteins and cells lines for discovery and pipeline projects, including antibodies, bi-specifics and membrane proteins, as well as contribute to the implementation high-through put microbial and/or mammalian expression workflow.

Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Protein Technologies department at our South San Francisco site. Protein Technologies is responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground-breaking modalities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design constructs
  • Apply automation and data management software to clone large panel of constructs for multiple projects
  • Interact closely with and hand off gene constructs to the downstream partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree with 2 years of related scientific experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of related scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad training in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Biological Sciences
  • Expertise in cloning methods, primer design, DNA preps, DNA sequence analysis software
  • Proven skills in molecular biology techniques and troubleshooting of cloning experiments
  • Knowledge in high throughput cloning and automation equipment is desirable
  • Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Track record as a team player in a dynamic and cross-functional environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
