We are actively seeking a highly qualified and motivated Associate scientist with a strong background in molecular biology and/or biochemistry to join our Genome Analysis Unit (GAU). GAU is a multi-disciplinary effort embedded into our Therapeutic Discovery (TD) department that continually leverages advancement in genetics, genomics, disease modeling, and computational biology to answer critical drug discovery questions from target inception through drug development.

In this vital role you will work in the lab under supervision and work closely with a group of committed scientists to perform cell-based assays, molecular biology experiments, quantitative and molecular genetic analyses to discover, develop and validate exciting Amgen drug discovery pipeline.

The specific responsibilities of the candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Performing RNA and DNA extraction from mammalian cell lines and tissues, and related quantitative PCR/digital PCR.
  • Performing mammalian cell line maintenance and cell-based molecular biology and biochemical assays.
  • Execute data analysis and trouble-shooting with guidance.
  • Document experimental plans and laboratory procedures timely with great attention to details.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment
  • Present data internally and communicate effectively with colleagues.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 2 years of molecular biology, biochemistry, or relevant area

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of molecular biology, biochemistry, or relevant area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills
  • Fluency in analytic techniques necessary for analyses of genetic perturbation.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment.
